Getting Started

New to Pilates? Pilates can be done “on the mat” or with specialized equipment. It can be done in a group setting, on an individual basis, or with a friend (known as a duet). The choice is up to you. Several factors will affect your Pilates experience:

  • Do you like to exercise best on an individual basis or in a group setting?
  • Do you have injuries or issues best addressed on an individual basis or by a physical therapist?
  • Are you new to mind-body exercise or do you have previous experience with yoga, martial arts or dance?
  • What are your fitness goals?
  • What is your budget?
